Tribe Impact Capital LLP (Tribe), the UK’s first wealth manager dedicated to social, environmental, and impact investment, has hired ex World Wide Fund (WWF) UK’s head of sustainable finance, Ray Dhirani, in a major boost to Tribe’s impact offering and team.

Ray will co-lead Tribe’s impact management proposition alongside Chief Impact Officer, Amy Clarke. He will further evolve Tribe’s single line securities, net zero commitments, as well as oversee fund engagement activities.

At WWF, Ray worked across thematic and policy areas covering climate change and wider environmental themes including extractives, food systems and deforestation, as well as conservation and finance sector data.

Prior to WWF, Ray worked in the global markets division of Merrill Lynch in New York. He holds a BSc. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MSc. in Environment & Development from the London School of Economics.

Also joining Tribe and the growing wealth management team is James Marti. James has spent the past 15 years in wealth management, as a private banker with Kleinwort Benson, and more recently as a client advisor with UBS Wealth Management.

At UBS, James advised wealthy families, charities, and pension schemes on their financial affairs, particularly on building more sustainable, resilient portfolios. He holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in International Financial Markets.

“I’m delighted to welcome Ray and James to the Tribe. Along with extensive knowledge of markets and sustainable finance, Ray brings with him an appreciation of the behavioural changes required to shift the system to future fitness. His work and participation in the WWF film ‘Our Planet: Too Big to Fail’ has helped the finance system, and broader stakeholders, become more aware of the need and opportunity for change.

James comes armed with vast experience in engaging both private and institutional clients with their wealth. His deep passion for sustainability has been helping individuals and organisations alike create more of the change that’s required. I’m thrilled they have both chosen to join Tribe as we look to increase the reach and the impact of our client’s wealth and am looking forward to working with them both.”

Commenting on the appointments, Amy Clarke, Co-Founder and Chief Impact Officer

I’m excited to join team Tribe at this juncture and help take the business and impact proposition from strength to strength. Every investment has an impact, and Tribe is unique in pairing positive impact with investment analysis across its whole business. We’re at a tipping point in the climate and environmental crisis and in how these issues interface with the financial markets. I’m thrilled with this unique opportunity to join a great team and make a real difference.”

Commenting on his appointment, Ray Dhirani

I was drawn to Tribe by its mission to help clients invest for both financial return and positive environmental and social impact at a time when it is so desperately needed. After 15 years of working in traditional wealth management, I noticed a shift in clients’ desire to achieve positive impact alongside investment returns. The financial system can be harnessed to drive real change, and the investment decisions of private investors can be a key component in this. I’m excited to work with clients to help create this change.”
