Access to the internet is an essential part of 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. Increasing global access to information and communications technology is vital for creating a better world for people and planet.

Internet connectivity plays an important role in sustainable development across multiple areas. It drives progress toward a more equitable and sustainable world by facilitating economic opportunities, fostering social inclusion, supporting environmental initiatives, and improving education and healthcare services.

For example, internet access allows small businesses and entrepreneurs, even in remote areas, to participate in the global marketplace, reducing the barriers to entry and growing economic resilience. It can improve education, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities by connecting students to teachers and individuals to experts around the world. The Internet also facilitates remote consultations and diagnostics, making healthcare more accessible to populations in rural or underserved areas.

The SDGs are the ‘north star’ of our investment framework. They’re integral to how we understand our clients’ values, as well as the investments we choose and how we report on them.
